What Lies Beneath and Between
Ann Flemings
Austin artist, Pennsylvania native, Ann Flemings offers vividly colored, highly textured and visually engaging art. She explores the space between dark and light and what lies above and below. Juxtaposing contrasting colors with highly texturized surfaces, the eye is encouraged to engage the viewer deeply in the experience. Using multiple layers and complex surfaces, she creates visual harmony from a potential cacophony of hues. Ann maintains a high level of playfulness in her creative process, as she believes play is the crucible for innovation.
Ann has been creating thoughtful artwork since the second grade. Her grandmother, a self-educated artist introduced Ann to painting. She culminated her formal education with a BFA in graphic design, including a year with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and a summer in Lucca, Italy. In 2011, Ann reinvigorated her creative process and she has been steadily creating and showing her art ever since.
